Katja Stergar studied comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana. She has been Director of the Slovenian Book Agency since November 2022, and has been part of the agency as head of international cooperations since it was established in 2009. She previously worked as a proofreader and editor, was also active as a literary critic and promoter of reading. She has been the Agency’s representative in the Traduki network since 2010. From 2019 to 2022 she led the European project Every Story Matters in Slovenia, and from 2019 the project Slovenia Guest of Honour at the 2024 Bologna Book Fair.
